"ONELIST.COM Description: The
Repeater Users Group (aka RUG) is an organization made up of various React
teams, individuals, and other agencies primarily for the General Mobile Radio
Service (GMRS) repeaters in Central and Southern California and parts of
Arizona and Nevada. RUG users aid the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, city,
county, and state police and fire departments and other official governmental
agencies. RUG users also provide on-the-spot traffic information to various
radio and TV broadcast stations for the benefit of the commuting public."

"General Radio Mobile Service (GMRS)
is a type of FCC licensed 2-way radio in the USA. It operates in the 462/467
MHz range. Any one can be licensed to use this band. No testing required. It's
related to CB, but is MUCH different. In this list, we'll talk about uses for
this service. How to get started, how to set up a repeater. REACT is a major
user of GMRS repeaters. Their input is wanted. Also covered is a new service,
FRS (Family Radio Service). Many of the advantages of GMRS, but less power and
no license required. Join us to find out more. "
