"There's lots ahead for GMRS in 2000."
There is lots ahead for GMRS in 2000. GMRS is growing in popularity. That can only be a good thing for users, retailers, radio shops, and manufacturers. This is also the year in which the GMRS piracy problem will come to the forefront. That is also a good thing.
Here at GMRS web we are seeing interested radio shops approaching us for advertising information. They know a new market is growing. It has been the magazine's opinion that most people interested in GMRS really should have their systems installed and maintained professionally. It's the smart thing to do especially if you don't have the skills to work with radio systems in the UHF radio bands. Your local radio shop is your best friend when it comes to sales, service, and installations. The Internet retailers advertising at GMRS Web are on top of the needs for most GMRS licensees. Allow them to help you get that system going.
Since GMRS Web began focusing attention on the GMRS piracy problem, licensees all over the United States have taken action to protect the few channels they have for their families to use at home, or when traveling. Licensees are taking notice of not only the pirates, but of the radio shops, manufacturers, and retailers that perpetuate the problem. Building pirate systems, selling GMRS radios to business users, and publishing incomplete or misleading advertising is going to be noticed in 2000.
Manufacturers like ADI, Wireless Marketing, and Motorola are producing GMRS radios we can use. The used market is opening up. Demand is growing. The interest in purchases is there. When the magazine first began our biggest month after after three months of operation was 6000 hits on our single page. Across the magazine and the bulletin board we are pushing in excess of 60,000 hits per month. Thanks to you our regular readers, users of the bulletin board, and our dynamic authors and moderators the magazine is a big success.
Families are learning about GMRS and FRS both. What used to be referred to as Nerd Com by some should now known as "family com" by all of us. GMRS Web proudly takes a little credit for getting the word out about GMRS. All of us that put the magazine together owe a debt of gratitude to the advertisers that have made a record year for us possible. Thanks very much to Bob Leef, ADI, NSI, 2-Way talk, Computermail.net, General Communications, and Radios Online for your continued support. Thanks also to the many other vendors that stop by to post announcements in the vendor's forum!
GMRS Web Magazine is looking forward to the rest of 2000 and to watching GMRS grow as an important radio service for our families.
